Richard A. Rosa, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Rosa is one of a select group of doctors pioneering both cutting-edge surgical technique and the development of state-of-the-art medical devices. As a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with more than 20 years of practical experience, he treats a full range of musculoskeletal and joint problems. As a former college-level competitive athlete he has a special interest in all sports related injuries with a concentration in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder, treatment of running injuries, and rotator cuff problems.
As one of a small number of fellowship-trained joint replacement specialists in the state and with expertise encompassing the entire spectrum of hip and knee replacement, he has lectured internationally before distinguished medical forums. |
Since having completed his fellowship in Joint Replacement Surgery at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, he has been actively involved in the development and clinical evaluation of joint implant designs, materials, and surgical techniques.
As the designing surgeon of a unicompartmental knee system, he has refined the minimally invasive surgical technique and has shared his knowledge through lectures to specialized medical audiences internationally. Many patients who previously would have required total knee surgery for arthritic knees may be candidates for this new procedure. The result is a much quicker recovery and more normal knee function.
Presently he is devoting much of his time to Minimally Invasive Surgical (MIS) techniques for total hip and total knee replacement, allowing for substantially reduced post-operative pain and a much quicker recovery. In addition to MIS hip and knee replacement he offers hip resurfacing for the appropriate candidate.
Dr. Rosa is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Arthritic Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons
